North Star Science School 2021 Date and Venue announced
We are thrilled to confirm that The North Star Science School will return to South Yorkshire on the 24th November 2021 and will be held at Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park Resort in Rotherham.
The event supports Professor Brian Cox vision for the UK to become “The best place in the world to do Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths”
This year’s event is being organized by The Work-wise Foundation, an employer-led charity aimed at inspiring young people about careers in STEM related industries and equipping them with the knowledge, skills and aptitudes to succeed in employment
We asked John Barber, CEO of The Work-wise Foundation what we can expect to see at the upcoming event: “We are excited to be organizing this year’s event and we can’t wait to finally welcome Professor Brian Cox to South Yorkshire! The event will see secondary school students from across South Yorkshire spend a day at Gulliver’s Valley where they will have the opportunity to participate in a series of exciting hands on workshops and see and hear some incredible, inspiring speakers from within the STEAM industry.”
The event is part of the national Science Summer School initiative, co-founded by Professor Brian Cox CBE and Lord Andrew Mawson OBE. The programme, which started life in 2012 in an East London secondary school, played a transformational role in helping a local community.
The St Paul’s Way Trust Science Summer School in East London is an annual event hosted by Professor Cox. It’s a practical demonstration through learning by doing to support his message that Britain urgently needs one million more scientists and engineers to flourish as a modern nation. He encourages young people to consider the many STEAM career options available and “to make Britain the best place to do science.”
After a successful blended live and digital event in 2020 led by South Yorkshire Housing Association, The Work-wise Foundation and event partners are looking forward to being able to host a live event this year. The day will consist of a series of workshops and keynote speeches, which attending students will rotate around to gain a wholesome experience of the STEAM industry.
The team are now looking to speak with any businesses who might be interested in sponsoring this exciting event and would like to engage with local schools and colleges to form long-lasting and meaningful relationships.
Any businesses who may be interested in supporting the event and would like more information should contact Emily Woods at emily@work-wise.co.uk or call 07847433088.
