Summer Academy taking place in High Peak to focus on Opportunities in Visitor Economy

This summer, The Work-wise Foundation will be delivering a Summer Academy in High Peak which will focus on the opportunities available in Visitor Economy.

The charity is working in partnership with D2N2 LEP; North Derbyshire Careers Hub to offer this incredible experience to young people.

The academy will take place from the 2nd to the 5th August at a variety of exciting locations in High Peak. There are fully funded spaces available for 14-18 year olds based in the local area. Students who sign up will be given the chance to meet employers, complete team building exercises, carry out mock interviews and experience tours of workplaces.

The Work-wise Foundation’s Summer Academy has been running for almost 10 years across the South Yorkshire region, giving gives students the opportunity to gain and improve upon key skills and personal attributes that employers are looking for – readying them for the world of work.

John Barber, CEO at The Work-wise Foundation, says: “We’re really lucky to be working with D2N2 to offer this exciting opportunity. The Visitor Economy sector has taken a real hit during the pandemic, and we want to show youngsters that it is an amazing sector to work in with a wealth of opportunity in the High Peak.”

Thanks to D2N2 LEP; North Derbyshire Careers Hub, the Summer Academy is free for students to participate in and bookings are now being taken. You can find out more about what is involved and how to sign up by clicking this link: Click here to download our flyer & book your space
