Summer Academy 2024 Bookings Are Now Open!
The Work-wise Foundation are thrilled to launch bookings for our Summer Academy 2024.
Join us in a variety of locations to learn all about the opportunities available for young people wishing to pursue a career in STEM.
Gaining qualifications is a key stepping stone to future employment, but qualifications alone do not guarantee success in finding, keeping and progressing in employment. Our Summer Academy gives students the opportunity to gain and improve upon key skills and personal attributes that employers are looking for—readying them for the world of work.
Our 4-day fun and interactive programme is designed for students from ages 14 - 18 who are keen to get a head start and prepare for adult life and a successful career – contributing towards Gatsby Benchmarks 4, 5, 6 & 7.
What does our programme include?
- Module One: Broadening Horizons
Introduction to industry and the world of work, with a focus on the impact of first impressions and key communication skills.
- Module Two: An Experience of Industry
A company-based session including a site tour and activities with guest presenters including the chance to ‘Walk in my Shoes’ with apprentices with a focus on character skills.
- Module Three: Rising to the Challenge
A creative session featuring special guests which involves interactive leadership and team challenges designed to build upon essential skills for employment.
- Module Four: The Ultimate Interview
Giving students the chance to find out what employers want with the opportunity to have mock interviews, CV workshops and learn about the different career paths our guests have followed. Session ends with a graduation ceremony and certificates.
When does it take place?
The academy takes place during the summer school holidays over a four-day period. There are two options to choose from – 29th of July to 1st August or 5th August to 8th August.
