Peter Edwards joins The Work-wise Foundation as Joint Chief Executive Officer

We are delighted to announce that The Work-wise Foundation team is growing! Peter Edwards has joined the team as Joint Chief Executive Officer, alongside John Barber. Peter joined the team on Tuesday 16 April 2024. Peter brings a wealth of experience of manufacturing and engineering in the South Yorkshire region that will be invaluable in developing The Work-wise Foundation mission.

On his first day, Peter was “thrown in at the deep end” with a STEMFest day at Barnburgh Primary School seeing over 180 primary school children. Throughout the rest of the week Peter got up to speed on the current programmes and events at The Work-wise Foundation. His first week has been very diverse and quite interesting!

Peter says: The Work-wise Foundation offers a unique opportunity to inspire young people, inform teachers and parents and engage with Industry. It is now such a privilege to be part of the team and see firsthand the impact we can have in developing and supporting these young people as they prepare for the world of work.”

John Barber says: “We are delighted Peter is joining the team and I know he will bring new energy and a wide range of knowledge and extensive network that will be invaluable to the future development of The Work-wise Foundation".

It was through his previous role at The International Trade Forum and Manufacturing Forum that Peter was introduced to The Work-wise Foundation, and was so impressed with the wonderful work they were doing by engaging with young people and inspiring them to explore STEM related careers. He volunteered on the Secor Routeways programme and joined the steering committee for the Get up to Speed with STEM exhibition and when he saw a chance to join the team as Joint CEO, he didn’t need much encouragement to grasp the opportunity.

Peter developed an extensive network of manufacturing contacts and service providers in the South Yorkshire region.

Peter says; “I am delighted to join The Work-wise Foundation team, I have a desire and passion to support the South Yorkshire manufacturing community whilst enabling young people to reach their full potential.”
