Doncaster Students to take part in Summer Academy

This summer, The Work-wise Foundation will be delivering two of their Summer Academies to students in Doncaster, in partnership with Doncaster Council and Equality in STEM.

There will be two academies available to Doncaster students aged between 14 and 18 in August. The first, running from the 9th to the 12th August will focus on Women into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The second academy, running from the 16th to the 19th August will focus on BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) into STEM.

The Work-wise Foundation’s Summer Academy has been running for almost 10 years across the South Yorkshire region, giving gives students the opportunity to gain and improve upon key skills and personal attributes that employers are looking for – readying them for the world of work.

Each week, those involved will be invited to a variety of locations across Doncaster to meet employers, complete team building exercises, carry out mock interviews and experience tours of workplaces.

Emily Woods, Sales, Marketing & Projects Executive at The Work-wise Foundation, says: “It is going to be fantastic to be delivering our Summer Academy face-to-face again in Doncaster. We’re really looking forward to working with Doncaster Council and Equality in STEM throughout these two weeks. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the transformation in the students in just 4 days!”

Thanks to Doncaster Council, the weeks are free for students to participate in and bookings are now being taken. You can find out more about what is involved and how to sign up using the links below:
