The Work-wise Foundation is approved by DWP as Gateway for Government Kickstart Scheme

Last week, The Work-wise Foundation received the news that they are now fully approved as a Gateway for the Government Kickstart Scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.

Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

  • 100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
  • associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

A Kickstart gateway is an organisation that has shown interest in representing employers who want to apply for 29 or less job placements.

This allows us to help smaller businesses within our region access this fantastic opportunity to increase their workforce. Not only this, but we are also able to use

our expertise of working closely with young people to ensure that these placements run smoothly and both the employer and employee get the best experience possible from the scheme.

As part of our first cohort we have over 50 jobs available in a variety of sectors – from a Trainee Cutler/Coppersmith to Office Administrator posts.

As a Gateway for the Kickstart Scheme, The Work-wise Foundation are offering management, support and administration as part of their ongoing Apprentice Support Scheme:

  1. Co-ordinate and manage the employer group and submit the group application(s)
  2. Provide guidance on preparation of Job Descriptions and assist with the selection process and interviews
  3. Provide “Be Prepared” Training for employers including: Guidance on working with young people, safeguarding, Health and Safety/Risk Assessment, any special needs support and mentor support (working with specialist partners)
  4. “Indispensable Me” Induction Training for new starters covering behaviours at work, expectations and understanding the company and your role.
  5. Employability Training Sessions throughout the placements to young people to develop their confidence and skills. Support in preparing CVs and follow on applications/interviews.

If you would like more information on the scheme please do not hesitate to get in touch.
